What’s better than a normal selfie? A pizza selfie! It’s like a normal #SELFIE but covered in cheese, sauce, and delicious toppings.

We here a tThe Death Set and Dim Mak aren’t completely sure what that means so we’re hosting a contest to find out.
In partnership with pizzashirt.net we’re giving away several DOPE PIZZA T-SHIRTS —
as seen in THE DEATH SET’S “SOAR AWAY” music video— to the most creative “pizza selfies” uploaded to Instagram with the hashtag #dimmakpizza

THE CONTEST BEGINS NOW AND ENDS ON MARCH 19TH AT 11:59PM.
WE’LL COMMENT ON WINNING PHOTOS WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE.

We’re leaving this contest open to your interpretation and always “encourage creativity.” Get to it!

Stoked our new EP "King Babies" is out now on Dim Mak Records!

Also, keep your eyes out for the awesome horror flick V/H/S (2012) and its sequel V/H/S II (2013), featuring music by The Death Set.

You may have also heard us on television in the new Google Chrome commercial. It’s super strange to hear ourselves in theaters and on primetime television, but don’t worry, still coupled with some warehouse shows to no one :)

I hope to see some friends on this lil tour...

MOST IMPORTANTLY, it is a huge honor to share our new video with you, one that has been years in the making.

The video for "I Miss You Beau Velasco" off our 2011 record "Michel Poiccard" (Ninja Tune / Counter Records) is
finally complete. It would be impossible to make a video that would completely encapsulate our love for our lost band mate and friend Beau Velasco. He was an inspiration to us and to so many.

You may recognize artists and musicians in the video, including Spank Rock, XXXChange,Santigold, Japanther, Best Fwends, Roofeeo (TV on the Radio / The Death Set), High Places, Dan Deacon, Trouble Andrew and Vice Cooler
(XBRX). A huge thank you to director Jay Buim and everyone involved in the making of this very special tribute.

Lyrics...

Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Snap
Newmore Switchblades on an ape bit sav attack
Bring it back then you get slapped
I'm Ballzy like Cerebral always causin havoc
On the run with my PMA gun
Messed up with a broken ear drum
Sonik Ninja faceless assassin
Fun fun fun in the 2am sun

Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Snap

Ahhh cute lil monkey with a backwards hat
Barking out orders for the ape attack
Shark fin soup delivered in a bat
And then I'll wrap it round ya face for a bitey snack
I got a bad habit like a revolutionary guillotine
Gradient double headed tiger silk screen
Scary silence like Edvard Munch's Scream
Now I digitalize ya film on my tape deck mp3

We're going in * 4
Ahhhhhh!

Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Snap

Lyrics -

YO DAVID CHASE! YOU P.O.V. SHOT ME IN THE HEAD

Yo David Chase! You P.O.V. shot me in the head!

If only you could see me with my P.O.V.
Feel my P.O.V. shot in the head
Resuscitate me from my P.O.V.
Cause all we can see is black instead

Lets go!

You don’t see nothing and I don’t see nothing
You can’t see nothing and I don’t see nothing
You can’t see nothing and I can’t see nothing
And for once we don’t understand one another!

P.O.V. shot in the head

R.I.P. Beau Velasco
1978 - 2009

R.I.P. my dear brother, friend and band mate Beau Velasco. We are all so devastated that I will keep this short. We love you and you will be missed. You affected us all so much in the most positive ways. Our lives would not be as is, if not for you. We love you.

Beau Velasco, beloved brother, co-founding member, guitarist and vocalist of The Death Set, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009, in Brooklyn, New York. Beau co-wrote the Worldwide album and previous two EP's with Johnny Siera, with whom his partnership reaches back beyond The Death Set's beginnings, to Black Panda from the Gold Coast, Australia. The Death Set moved from Sydney to the US in 2005, but Beau took a back seat from touring a while later. This original core lineup of the band had recently rejoined to write and record the next record and to resume touring together.

Beau was also a talented artist, tattoo artist and jewelry designer. Working at Saved Tattoo in Williamsburg and Black Ink in Harlem. His artwork has been exhibited in Australia and America. There is a nice piece remembering him in the New York Village Voice. And Baltimore City Paper has published a warm piece with Johnny and Rabbit.

A wake and a beautiful memorial service at Saved Tattoo occurred in the days following Beau's passing in Brooklyn, friends and family gathering together from afar to cry out their love and to carry strength forward together. A memorial at Beau's family's farm in Australia took place on October 22 with help from longtime friend and bandmate Dan Walker.

There's a Flickr gallery that's been set up to collect photos of Beau. Please feel free to contribute any of your own memories.

This was The Death Set's first and last show together as the dream unit of Beau, Johnny, Dan, and Jah:

A Japan and selected countries re-issue of our first two EP's with additional remixes coupled with a very bad ass bandana is available now!! Available from the Ninja Tune Site.
